Ellie Lasthiotaki is a Greek artist who is currently based in Singapore. Ellie grew up on the stunning island of Crete; as such, the sea continues to play an integral role in her daily life and, naturally, flows into her artistic creations.

Drawing inspiration from her childhood in Crete and her home country, Ellie’s colour palettes typically incorporate the yellows of the mesmerising sun, the blues of the horizon and the emerald greens of the oceans. Her bright, pensive pieces are primarily created using acrylic and are regularly finished with golden touches to symbolise Byzantine iconography.

Ellie believes, “Painting is one of the ways that allows anyone to see with their mind what cannot be seen with the eyes, to expect the unexpected and to feel alive.” Through her panoramic paintings and sculptures, she yearns to build a connection between nature, herself, and those who appreciate her work.

Ellie views her artworks as her way of capturing a moment, feeling, storm, or secret that would otherwise be long forgotten. Ellie believes that endless possibilities can result from further appreciating every day and grasping onto memories.

Since 2015, Ellie has held solo exhibitions in Singapore and several group exhibitions worldwide. She has also collaborated with highly esteemed online galleries in Europe, Southeast Asia and Japan.
