Silvia is a contemporary Bulgarian artist working in the field of fine and applied art. She creates acrylic and oil paintings and hand-woven tapestries.
Artist has inherited the love of art from my grandfather, who was a textile designer at textile factories all around the country. Since Silvia's childhood and school years, she has loved to create different artworks like dolls from various natural materials. Artist has painted aquarelles, pastels and sketches too. Then Silvia began to do woven sweaters, jackets and woven wall hangings made of raw materials, some of them combined with carved wood.
As an artist and a person, acting with senses and feelings, she would say that artworks speak more than words. Silvia let her creations talk about themselves. They alone can show how things inspire and give her a fillip to do the artwork.
Part of the roots of her inspiration can be found in the traditional Bulgarian folklore and ancient cultures - all of them have left a trace after their presence. Silvia is trying to unite all this multicultural and ethnic diversity in her works, reconstituting them through her vision.
Music has always been taking part in her life, be it Jazz, Blues, Rock, Classical or traditional folklore from all around the world. Presently, she and Silvia's husband are very fond of the Greek Rebetiko music, which they also play and sing with enthusiasm and desire. So, the beautiful music has a significant influence on Silvia's creative process, and she has given birth to many of her artworks while listening to her lovely and favourite pieces. Some videos can be seen on her youtube channel.
Further, Nature plays great importance in her art as well. Being convinced that every artist needs a wide variety of new and exciting places on earth to provoke, enrich, and develop their art life, the artist is constantly aiming to broaden her artistic horizon and develop herself further.
In that connection, Silvia has been participating in Artist-in-Residence Programs in different countries like Spain, Austria, Ukraine, Ireland, and her artworks have been shown in galleries in the USA, Canada and Europe.
