Ankita Chatterjee is an academician, trained educator, and full-time artist certified in Western Art from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Asian Art History from the Lasalle School of Arts.
Despite her extensive education in the arts, Ankita describes herself as a “student of art” and believes that art is a journey of continuous learning about oneself and the world at large. This journey can never be completed.
Creating paintings based on still-life and photographs, Ankita’s pieces reflect her ongoing quest to uncover hidden stories amidst everyday sights and narrate these stories through the lens of her imagination via her brush strokes. Her canvases depict landscapes, portraits and activities she cherishes during her routine every day. However, through her paintings, she seeks to show these everyday scenes in a new light, channelling her artistic talent into showcasing the latest within the expected.
Dedicated to using multiple techniques, Ankita uses many artistic methods across her work, and her collections utilise a mix of mediums such as oil paints, watercolour and charcoal. Ankita believes that it is through the fluidity of colours that life’s lessons are best learnt.
A firm believer in pushing boundaries of self-discovery, with a keen enthusiasm to learn more techniques and expand her artistic skillset, Ankita recently underwent a Diploma course at NAFA where she picked up nuances of oil painting and beautiful sketching.
She has participated in exhibitions in Singapore and Finland. In 2020, Ankita also exhibited in World Art Dubai, the region’s most prominent contemporary retail art fair, and the India Art Festival, Mumbai in 2022.
