Irina Forrester, a Russian-born British artist, embarked on a transformative artistic journey after relocating to Singapore from London with her family over six years ago. While Irina received a formal art education in Russia, the demands of a growing family and work commitments led her to take a hiatus from her creative pursuits.
Upon settling in Singapore, Irina found herself with the precious gift of time, which she eagerly invested in rekindling her passion for art. Over the past few years, she diligently honed her skills by participating in short courses at LASALLE and NAFA. She also became an active member of Singapore’s life figure and portrait drawing communities to sharpen her artistic perception.
Irina’s artistic portfolio primarily encompasses figurative pieces, but she is currently exploring a delicate equilibrium between abstraction and realism. Her subject matter ranges from evocative still lifes and captivating landscapes to poignant portraiture and vivid life-drawing sketches. Irina favours oils for their versatile application, but she also revels in working with acrylics, gouache, charcoal, and ink.
A prolific exhibitor, Irina has showcased her work in numerous venues across the globe. Her creations grace private collections in the UK, France, Portugal, Russia, and her adopted home of Singapore. Her notable exhibitions in 2022 and 2023 include appearances at ION Orchard, Orchard Library, Pnohm Penh in Cambodia, Selegie Arts Centre, NAFA Alumni Exhibition, and several prestigious Singaporean galleries, affirming her place in the contemporary art scene. Irina Forrester’s artistic odyssey continues to captivate and inspire art enthusiasts worldwide.
