Yumi Sugai, born and raised in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, discovered her love for drawing at a young age, influenced by the mesmerizing colours of the sea and sky during frequent visits to the beach with her father. After pursuing an art education at Osaka Art University School of Art, Yumi married and began a family in Fukui Prefecture, where her artistic focus evolved to include the ethereal realm of angels.

Conversion to Christianity marked a transformative phase, interpreting her inclination towards angelic art as a divine message. Motivated to share news of healing and spirituality, Yumi’s angelic artworks gained recognition, with successful exhibitions in Tokyo and a presence on platforms like Artnet. Beyond traditional paintings, her creations, including posters and cross-stitch patterns, are available on Amazon and eBay.

In the 1990s, Yumi achieved international acclaim, being selected five times for prestigious exhibitions such as the Japan and France World Exhibition and the Paris France Exhibition. She was recognized for her talent and received an excellent prize at the European Spain and Sun Art Exhibition.

Looking ahead, Yumi aspires to work as an illustrator for picture books, drawing inspiration from Ernest Nister’s style.
