A world-famous painter and graphic artist and a member of the Union of Artists of Tajikistan, Farrukh Negmatzade was born in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and graduated from the Moscow State Art. Faithful to national traditions dating back centuries, Farrukh incorporates his passion for metaphor signs, ornamental motifs, and ancient oriental miniatures into his artworks.
In his paintings, Farrukh presents modern Tajikistan: the rural life of residents with its simple way and leisurely rhythm, where he aims to immerse his viewers in the natural world of real beings. Often, his artworks are everyday scenes, landscapes, and portraits, featuring mountain landscapes, residents of remote areas, nature and animals of Tajikistan and the beauty of Tajik women. In addition, he prefers a restrained colour scheme. Such a stingy palette is characteristic of landscapes, modest and artless, like ordinary sketches, while female portraits and genre scenes are more resonant.
In each artwork, the main character is a man, the crown of nature. Farrukh had dressed concerns familiar to many: universal joy, sadness, love, separation, childhood, youth, and old age. While his canvases tend to be designed in a rather strict realistic manner, there are times when they seem somewhat unexpected.
Farrukh presented his works, which were united by a common theme titled “Tajikistan is my land.” at Art Expo-2017 in New York, the world’s largest fine art exhibition; Farrukh also held solo exhibitions in all European capitals, sixteen countries and nine US cities. He has pieces in museums and private collections in more than 60 countries.
